Belgian entrepreneur Vincent Van den Broeck says music has always been tied to meaningful moments in his life. Did Life Pull You Away from Music?

Maybe music was your first love, and then life happened: a career, a family, a health setback, an industry door that closed. Maybe you never even started, because it didn’t seem like something people like you got to do.

Now there’s a voice telling you, “It’s too late,” or “You’ll never make it,” or even, “Who do you think you are?” But the bigger question is, “What if you miss your chance to shine?”

Second Verse, hosted by Becky Boyland, features indie artists who turned—or returned—to music after life took a different path, sometimes decades after music first captured their hearts.

Meet Your Host

Life Happened. The Music Never Left.

I know this story from the inside. I’ve served in music ministry for most of 30 years, but it wasn’t until the last several years that I realized I could produce and release my own music at a professional level.

Then, after spine surgery led to a vocal cord injury, I had to find my voice again, literally. That’s my second verse.

Now I sit down with indie artists to hear theirs.

Becky Boyland, singer-songwriter, producer, and host

Why “Second Verse“?

In a song, the second verse comes back to the same melody with more story behind it. That’s what this show is about: artists whose years away from music, years on a different path, or journey back after a setback, became the depth in their songs.

Their detour became their story. Stories like these and more:

Is Your Story a Second Verse?

Second Verse features indie artists whose music came after, or came back after, a different path:

Life took a detour: a career, family, health, or loss pulled you away, and now you’re prioritizing your music
You pivoted: you worked in music behind the scenes or hit an industry wall, then stepped into your own artistry
You started later: music found you later in life, and you said yes

Your detour is the story.
